Mission & Goals
Instructional Design and Distance Learning (IDDL) provides guidance and leadership for teaching in the online environment and delivering engaging high-quality courses, while providing support for the use of educational technology and promoting innovative practices to improve the quality of educational experiences. Our goals are to:
- Strengthen teaching and design practices to create innovative and efficient strategies with instructional design principles and best practices for integrating technology through professional development opportunities in a variety of delivery methods (groups, individual and targeted populations) online or in person.
- Promote high quality online and hybrid course design and development in support of student success through instructional design consultations and course design review process.
- Administer and communicate about mission- critical educational technology in support of high-quality instruction and making data driven decisions
- Provide instructional design and technical assistance daily through website resources, knowledge base articles, and service requests in the IT Portal to encourage a self-service model of support.
- Provide support for compliance with SUNY, state, federal, and local guidelines.
- Promote inter-office communication and collaboration to provide effective and coordinated support and maintenance of educational technologies.
- Value participation in professional development for staff to keep pace with higher education and technical trends for teaching and learning.
- Create a caring and supportive team environment to enhance efficiencies and positive motivation to support office goals.
