FITT Academy

The Fostering Innovation in Teaching with Technology (FITT) Academy is an intensive hands-on, project-specific faculty development opportunity sponsored by Instructional Design and Distance Learning, Information Technology, and the Professional Development Office. This unique event is designed for full time faculty or lecturers to launch a faculty community of practice focused on advancing teaching with technology.

Who Should Attend

Eligibility: Full-time faculty or lecturer
Availability: Required attendance during FITT Week
Assessment: Scheduled to teach during following semester

If selected, participants will be assigned to a Project Support Team that will assist in crafting a project charter, including project timeline, resources required, budget and assessment plan.

Benefits

Accepted participants will have access to teaching and technology support staff as well as a cohort of peers during and following the FITT Academy. Participants will also have access to a Brightspace organization made up of an ongoing list of articles, resources, and discussions among colleagues/participants.

Project Criteria

Feasibility: Projects must align with the campus strategic plan and be of size and scope to be substantially completed by close of the FITT Academy using current personnel and resources.
Innovation: The sponsors encourage innovative/out-of-box thinking relative to the faculty member’s experience and expertise.
Transformation: Projects have the potential to enhance or change students' active engagement in developing knowledge and skills, critical thinking, higher-order skills, and/or communication with use of technology.

Evaluation Process

Applications will be evaluated through a competitive committee review process.Applicants will be evaluated on materials submitted via the FITT application form, technology background, potential impact on students and department colleagues, and appropriateness of the proposed project.
