Accessibility

It's important to make your course accessible to all learners, specifically those that may have a disability. Course accessibility refers to the creation and display of the course and its content. which can rely on using technology effectively and efficiently during the creation process.

Designing a course with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles will help you reach a wide variety of learners regardless of their (dis)ability. UDL is a framework to improve and optimize teaching and learning for all people based on scientific insights into how humans

Certificates and Badges

You can earn a certificate and badge for accessibility and UDL by completing the self-paced course "Accessibility: Designing and Teaching Courses for All Learners" on Canvas, a course created by SUNY Buffalo State & SUNY Empire State through a SUNY IITG.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

UDL is based on scientific research about how the brain works. The goal is to design curriculum that can be used and understood by everyone and to eliminate barriers in the learning environment to create learning experiences that are accessible to all people regardless of their differences.

Using UDL Guidelines, you'll design learning experiences accessible to all learners right from the start, so in many cases, it's not necessary to make accommodations for individual students. Strengths, weaknesses, and disabilities are dependent on the environment. When we change the environment, we change what learners can do.

UDL Networks

UDL Guidelines include three networks:

Affective Networks
Strategic Networks
Recognition Networks

SUNY CPD Points

What are Points?

Buffalo State is a member of the SUNY Center for Professional Development (CPD), which provides the campus “points” that can be used for SUNY training opportunities.

Points (or Training Points) are dollars a campus receives through membership in the CPD or ITEC organizations which can be used by member campus faculty and staff to pay for training and professional development, programs, conferences, and more as determined by the organization.

How to Use Points

When selecting CPD points as your method of payment, you should determine if enough points are available to use before you complete the registration process.

If points are denied, you will be responsible for payment.

Points Eligibility

How and when points can be used is determined by the organization and campus. Please contact Meghan Pereira to determine points eligibility.
